Ángel Ramos Armoa

ORA Latin America 2025 Fellow

Ángel Ñamandu Ramos Armoa is a 26-year-old student of Human Ecology Engineering at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, National University of Asunción (UNA). He lives in Guarambaré, Paraguay, where he supports social, environmental, rural, and cultural initiatives rooted in citizen participation and expression.

From 2018 to 2024, Ángel served as a cultural manager at Casa Karaku in Asunción. Through its expressive workshops—writing, painting, poetry, and international learning labs—he found the space to open up and express himself as a person. He also volunteered with Mercadito Campesino, a network of small producers and consumers fostering direct exchange.

Since 2023, Ángel has contributed to projects with Indigenous Peoples of the Paraguayan Chaco through UNA and the organization Tierraviva a los Pueblos Indígenas del Chaco. In 2024, he joined the youth chapter of the Latin American Scientific Society of Agroecology, deepening his engagement with regional environmental justice movements.

His ORA project, Mapping and Characterization of Natural Springs (Ykuas) in Guarambaré, addresses water access in urban and peri-urban zones of Paraguay. The project combines mapping, interviews, community monitoring, and arts-based observation to preserve and protect key water ecosystems—linking ecological knowledge with cultural memory and neighborhood action.
