“Andarina”, a community mobile radio created in 2021 to generate spaces for intergenerational, intercommunity and interterritorial discussions among the Guarani peoples. By working with rural schools in their communities, in the Bolivian Chaco, through radio-based sound art as a pedagogical method to return to the word; as a means to rekindle cosmovision and memory to find ways to protect the land, where nature facing extractivism, is its main existential pillar. It was founded by popular community women communicators of Quechua and Guarani origin, who had participated in the Tipnis March in 2011. In 2021, “Andarina” traveled throughout the territory of Tatarenda Nuevo and Cañadillas, two departments of the country, in the Chaco region. Younger generations, children, teens and women were brought back together through the exploration of sound and radio, to talk about their forgotten and transcendental memories for the sake of empowerment, management and protection of their territories. Within the framework of the SONANDES platform, we used FM radio waves and a loudspeaker. We proposed activities for schools to use radio-sound art as a pedagogical teaching tool, ranging from sound explorations to the set up of museums. The youth and the children were connected to the memories of the wise elders to reflect on water sources and the struggle for their collective rights as indigenous people. It became a benchmark in terms of community communication within indigenous communication.
