Sabah Khan

ORA India 2025 Fellow

Mumbai, Maharashtra

Sabah Khan is a social justice leader working to amplify the voices and leadership of secular Muslim youth and women. She is the founder of Parcham Collective and the Savitri Fatima Institute for Inclusive Development (SFFID)—initiatives that foster civic engagement, leadership, and narrative power in marginalized Muslim communities.

Through joyful, youth-led programs in densely populated Muslim neighborhoods, Sabah and her team have created spaces for girls’ football, feminist cafés, and explorations of non-traditional livelihoods. These platforms allow young people—especially women—to reflect on religion and rationality, citizenship and democracy, while challenging cultural stereotypes and dominant narratives.

Her work includes fellowships, training, and a state-wide leadership platform in Maharashtra that partners with elected officials and policymakers to improve governance systems and public services. She also cultivates interfaith and cross-community dialogues between secular Muslim youth and young leaders from Dalit, Adivasi, OBC, and nomadic communities.

A key aspect of Sabah’s work involves engaging with media to challenge Islamophobic portrayals. She and her team have developed and disseminated educational publications that serve as tools for narrative change and youth empowerment.
