Adivhaho (Adi) Mpho Nengwekhulu is a 23-year-old community organizer and cultural ecologist recently appointed Deputy Director of Dzomo la Mupo, a grassroots organization dedicated to indigenous knowledge and ecological restoration. She completed her Honours degree in Indigenous Knowledge Systems at the University of Venda in May 2024 and serves as a student ambassador for biodiversity conservation, education, and advocacy within the university’s Directorate of Community Engagement, Entrepreneurship, Inclusive Innovation, and Commercialisation.
Adi is passionate about protecting indigenous forests, promoting native tree nurseries, and advancing agroecological farming methods. Her work centers on engaging communities in cultural biodiversity dialogues and mapping community territories for sustainable nature conservation.
She is mentored by Mphatheleni Makaulule, Director of Dzomo la Mupo, and Professor Vhonani Olive Netshandama, Director of Community Engagement at the University of Venda. Adi envisions a world where humans and all living beings coexist in harmony—free from interference, imbalance, or exploitation.
