Balach Bakundane is an indigenous environmental and human rights defender, and community mobilizer working with the oil project affected communities in Uganda. For the past 7 years, he has been at the forefront of campaigning against the expansion of fossil fuels especially oil and gas in Uganda and Africa at large. Balach has led a number of environmental conservation, human rights, and environmental legal reforms campaigns. Some of his campaigns include:

Save Lwera wetlands from EACOP oil activities, sand mining and commercial rice growing
Save Bugoma forest from threats of Sugarcane, oil and gas activities, land grabbing, illegal timber logging, commercial charcoal burning among others.
