More Women Choose Permanent Birth Control Method

The number of Kenyan women opting to go for permanent birth control procedures is on the rise. According to data from the Ministry of Health as at September 2023, 3615 women underwent the Bilateral Tubal Ligation (BTL), a procedure that involves blocking a woman’s fallopian tubes to prevent pregnancy permanently. So far, over 16 thousand women across the country have undertaken a permanent birth control method with reasons ranging from personal preference to the skyrocketing cost of living.
