Turkana’s Grass of Hope

I traveled over 748 kilometers from Nairobi the Kenyan capital to Turkana county to witness efforts by the arid and semi arid area residents efforts to restore grazing land, as a resilience measure to tackle climate change effects. I traveled from the extreme cold weather conditions of 12 degrees Celsius in Nairobi to extreme heat of up to 40 degrees Celsius. The residents’ desire to have permanent water solutions is, unfortunately for now, an impossibility. Unless massive investment is put in place, the desire might never be achieved.

This story is another in a series of reporting I am doing, as a part of my work to tell more stories of the polycrisis in Africa and its impacts.
