I am Flávia Dos Santos, a black woman, Quilombola, mother of Mayana Sofia and Oraldo Neto. I have a degree in administration, and I am currently taking Rural Education (human and social sciences). I am a nature lover, and an active member of the Quilombolas’ movement since I was 15.
I work through the perspective of a Quilombola woman and a rural intellectual, and I have developed my career and activism while studying. I enjoy working with people, and I am sensitive and mindful enough to communicate and understand the community’s fragility.
I have always worked on the mobilization and coordination of Quilombolas as well as various peasant communities. An active member of the Quilombolas’ Movement and the Quilombolas’ Commission of Sapê do Norte, coordinator of the Quilombola Women’s Collective and member of the National Human Rights Movement. Regarding collective planning, I participated in several recovery initiatives, and in the mobilization and coordination of the communities so that they can get training, develop their knowledge and access the rights of the Quilombolas.
