Orlando Huerta Ponce is a cooperative energy worker and educator committed to building community-based alternatives to extractive energy systems. Since 2017, he has been a worker-member of Onergia S.C. de R.L. de C.V. (Cooperative Society of Workers in Alternative Energies and Social Studies), where he helps bridge renewable energy technologies with social justice and collective practice.

Born in 1993 in the arid lands of Chihuahua, Mexico, and the eldest son of a mother from Puebla, Orlando studied Renewable Energy Engineering while working in project management from 2014 to 2017. That same year, his path led him to the Unión de Cooperativas Tosepan, where he immersed himself in cooperative and community-based models of work.

Inspired by this experience, and one year after completing his degree, Orlando left his formal job and co-founded a technological and educational cooperative focused on energy—bringing together friends from multiple disciplines to imagine new models of sustainable collaboration.
